Swissotel Makkah, Clock Tower

Madinah Hotel

Anwar Al Madinah Mövenpick

3 nights · Facing Masjid an-Nabawi

If you want the mosque right across from your hotel in both cities, this is the trip. Swissotel Makkah, Clock Tower, is listed as facing the Haram, and Anwar Al Madinah Mövenpick as facing Masjid an-Nabawi. It's the only one of our three 7-night tiers where both hotels are described that way. You get four nights in Makkah and three in Madinah, joined by the Haramain train. Two kinds of traveller get the most from it. Some are making the journey once and want nothing between them and the mosque. Others are bringing a parent, or young children, and need to be back in the room quickly when someone is tired. Anwar Al Madinah sits on the ladies' side and suits families well. It's the right choice when proximity decides how many prayers your group can make in the mosque itself.

Swissotel and its Ajyad Street entrance

Swissotel Makkah is in the Makkah Royal Clock Tower, part of the Abraj Al Bait complex, and its listed position is facing the Haram. Accor says guests reach Masjid al-Haram through a private entrance on Ajyad Street, and it describes Swissotel as the only property in the complex with a direct entrance there. The Abraj Al Bait Shopping Mall is on the hotel's ground floor, so small errands stay close. Rooms are sold with city, Haram or Kaaba views. For timing, Accor currently gives check-in from 4 PM and check-out by 12 PM as standard.

Anwar Al Madinah and the ladies' side

Anwar Al Madinah Mövenpick faces Masjid an-Nabawi and sits on the ladies' side of the mosque. Mövenpick itself calls it the nearest hotel to the Ladies' Prayer Entrance. For families, that keeps the walk to the women's entrance short. The hotel is linked directly to a shopping mall, and its restaurants include Al Salam Restaurant, which Mövenpick says serves traditional Saudi dishes. Its FAQ gives check-in as 5 PM and check-out as 12 PM. That's an hour later than Swissotel's check-in, so if you reach Madinah well before then, ask the team at booking what happens with your bags and whether earlier access is possible.

Is Luxury worth choosing over Premium?

Premium already has you on foot in both cities, at under 2 minutes' walk in Makkah and under 1 minute's walk in Madinah. Since both are walking tiers, the step up buys something narrower: Swissotel's own Ajyad Street entrance in Makkah, and a Madinah hotel on the ladies' side. Pick Luxury if one of those is what your group needs, for instance a parent for whom every extra step counts, or women who'll often go to prayer without the men. If neither applies, Premium covers the walking just as well.

Frequently asked questions

Not automatically. Swissotel sells rooms with city, Haram or Kaaba views, and the package doesn't name one. If a Kaaba view matters to you, say so early. The team will check what's available for your dates and confirm the room type at booking.

Mövenpick describes it as the nearest hotel to the Ladies' Prayer Entrance of Masjid an-Nabawi. If women in your group will come and go for prayers on their own, a short route between that entrance and the hotel makes each trip simpler.

It's a strong fit. Both hotels face their mosque, so taking a tired child back to the room and returning is quick, and Mövenpick says Anwar Al Madinah has extensive facilities for families. Things like cots or rooms next to each other aren't specified in the package, so raise them with the team when you book.

Advertised prices are per person based on four people sharing a room, which the industry calls quad occupancy. On our monthly departures, triple occupancy adds $200 per person and double occupancy adds $400 per person. That is the whole rule. Tell us how many of you are travelling and who needs to be in a room together, and we'll confirm your exact per-person price rather than leaving you to work it out from a table.

Our advertised prices are built on round-trip airfare from five gateways: JFK (New York), IAD (Washington), ORD (Chicago), ATL (Atlanta) and LAX (Los Angeles). If none of those is your home airport, it is not a problem. We can arrange departures from any US city. Additional airfare may apply on some routes, and your specialist will confirm the exact cost before you book, so nothing about the price changes after you have said yes.
