Umrah Packages from New York
Flight-inclusive Umrah for pilgrims from the New York Tri-State area, departing via JFK & EWR.
Umrah from New York made simple
Here the ride to the airport deserves as much planning as the flight. The Port Authority is building what it calls an entirely new JFK, and its alerts page warns drivers and rideshare passengers to expect delays or reroutes while parts of the airport roadway network are closed. The upside is plain: JFK is one of the five US gateways our airfare is priced from, so a pilgrim from Queens, Brooklyn or the Bronx starts the trip at the gateway itself, with no domestic flight needed to reach one. Sort out how you'll reach the terminal, and the hardest local part of the trip is done.

Routing
JFK is one of the five priced gateways, and the long-haul leg to Jeddah often connects through a European, Turkish or Gulf hub.
Community
The 2020 US Religion Census estimated about 527,000 Muslim adherents across the city's five counties, worshiping in roughly 228 congregations. Queens had the largest count, near 178,000, with Brooklyn at about 154,000 and the Bronx close to 112,000. Pew's 2023-24 Religious Landscape Study puts Muslims at about 3% of adults in the wider metro area. On the 2026-27 calendar, the city's public schools close for both Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.
Getting to Makkah from New York
For anyone going by transit, the last leg is the AirTrain. It meets the subway and the Long Island Rail Road at Jamaica, and the subway again at Howard Beach, and the Port Authority says the train ride from Penn Station or Grand Central Madison to the AirTrain takes about 20 minutes. The AirTrain needs its own fare on top of the subway or LIRR. If a relative is driving you, JFK now has a drop-off and pick-up lot at the Lefferts Boulevard AirTrain station, an eight-minute ride from the terminals. Terminals 1, 4, 5, 7 and 8 each host different airlines, so check yours on the ticket before you set off. Moving between terminals on the AirTrain is free and takes under 10 minutes.
The long-haul leg often involves a change of planes at a hub in Europe, Turkey or the Gulf, and the whole trip tends to come to roughly 15 to 20 hours. Jeddah's airport serves Makkah too, but the city is still a road or rail transfer away. Makkah keeps Arabia Standard Time year-round, so it's 7 hours ahead of New York from March to early November and 8 hours ahead through the winter.
Leave early while JFK is rebuilt
Construction is the biggest unknown on departure day. The Port Authority tells drivers and anyone using a for-hire car to plan for delays or reroutes, and it strongly advises taking mass transit to and from the airport instead. With ihram, suitcases and older parents in the car, that isn't always realistic. If you're driving, build in a genuine margin, consider the Lefferts Boulevard lot rather than the terminal curb, and read the Port Authority's alerts and advisories page the night before you fly.
Working with the school calendar
NYC public schools close for both Eids, which helps families who want to travel with children. On the 2026-27 calendar, Eid al-Fitr is a day off on Tuesday, March 9, 2027. That puts the February 15-19 midwinter recess inside Ramadan. Spring recess runs April 22-30, and schools close again for Eid al-Adha on Monday, May 17. Winter recess is December 24 to January 1. The lunar dates move every year, so check the current calendar before you settle on a week.
A passport problem close to departure
If you discover an expired passport shortly before you fly, the State Department's New York Passport Agency is in the Greater New York Federal Building at 376 Hudson Street in Manhattan. It works by appointment only, on weekdays, and sees people with international travel within 14 calendar days or who need a foreign visa within 28. Appointments are booked by phone, and they're free. The State Department says any request to pay for one should be treated as fraud.

Umrah from New York: questions
You can, and while construction continues the Port Authority strongly advises mass transit. The subway and the LIRR both connect to the AirTrain at Jamaica, and the subway also meets it at Howard Beach. The airport says every AirTrain train and station is ADA-compliant, with wheelchair-accessible subway connections at both stations. Luggage is the real question. With a big suitcase each and several family members, a car to the Lefferts Boulevard drop-off lot may be kinder on everyone.
It's worth a look. NJ Transit runs from Midtown to the Newark airport rail station in about 30 minutes, according to the Port Authority, and the AirTrain goes on to the terminals. Keep in mind that our airfare is priced from JFK, not EWR. A Newark departure may add to the airfare, and the team confirms that figure before you book, so you can compare the two properly.
Our 7-night flight-inclusive packages run from $1,590 to $1,890 per person on quad occupancy, with airfare, the e-visa, medical insurance, both hotels and the Haramain train inside that figure.
