Umrah Packages from Cleveland
Flight-inclusive Umrah for pilgrims from Greater Cleveland, departing via CLE.
Umrah from Cleveland made simple
Getting from a front door in Cuyahoga County to Jeddah takes planning, but the first stretch can be simple: the Red Line runs right into Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. Hopkins sits outside the list of five gateways used to price our airfare. Some itineraries connect straight out of Hopkins. Others begin with a positioning flight to Washington Dulles or Chicago O'Hare, the two closest gateways. You'll know before booking whether a CLE start adds anything to the airfare, because the team confirms it first. Winter is the other thing to plan around. The heaviest lake-effect snow tends to fall in the snowbelt east of the city, so families out that way should allow more time than the airport forecast suggests.

Routing
Expect at least one connection from Hopkins, either onto an overseas hub routing or after a positioning leg to Washington Dulles or Chicago O'Hare.
Community
First Cleveland Mosque was established in 1937 with Wali Akram as imam, and he led it for 52 years. The Encyclopedia of Cleveland History records that he made the pilgrimage to Makkah twice, in 1957 and again in 1986. The Islamic Center of Cleveland grew out of prayer gatherings that local Muslims began holding in their homes in 1966, and today it runs its mosque, Quran school and community services from West 130th Street in Parma.
Getting to Makkah from Cleveland
Hopkins is about 9 miles southwest of downtown, close to I-480, and the rail line stops underneath the terminal. Once you're through security, the long part starts.
Since CLE isn't a gateway, there's a decision to make about the first flight. One option connects from Cleveland onto a routing through a European, Turkish or Gulf hub. The other begins with a positioning flight to Dulles or O'Hare before the long-haul leg, which may add a connection. With that in mind, the whole journey tends to land somewhere around 18 to 24 hours from leaving home to reaching the gate in Jeddah.
Winter changes the first morning more than anything else. A missed first flight can unravel a ticket with several legs, so check the forecast for your own roads the evening before, and leave early if snow is expected. For a January or February trip, pack a warm layer in your hand luggage. You'll want it in Cleveland and during the connection, and it can go back in the bag once you land.
By rail to the terminal
RTA's Red Line runs between the airport and downtown Cleveland by way of Tower City, and the CLE station is on the lower level of the main terminal. The airport says the ride takes under 30 minutes and that trains leave CLE every 15 minutes for most of the day. That makes the train a real option for a pilgrim travelling light, and for the relative who sees you off and has to get home. Check RTA's schedule if your flight leaves very early.
The snowbelt sits east of the airport
Lake-effect snow doesn't fall evenly across the region. During the event of January 1-5, 2025, the National Weather Service measured 4 inches at Cleveland Hopkins, while one spot in Ashtabula County, Ohio's northeasternmost county and part of the Lake Erie snowbelt, got 27 inches. So for a winter Umrah, a clear forecast at the airport tells you little about roads farther east. Check the conditions on your own route before you set off.
No passport agency in Ohio
The State Department's list of passport agencies has no office in Ohio. For Northeast Ohio, the nearest are in Detroit and Buffalo, and they take appointments for urgent travel, meaning a trip abroad within 14 days. That's a long drive to fix something that could have been handled by mail. The State Department's own advice is to apply early at an acceptance facility or renew by mail or online, so check every passport in the family before you pick your dates.

Umrah from Cleveland: questions
Only if your flight from overseas lands at CLE. Hopkins has its customs and border protection facility in Concourse A. If your homeward routing reaches another US airport first, such as Dulles or O'Hare, inspection happens there. O'Hare, for one, has arriving passengers claim every checked bag after inspection, even bags tagged through, and hand them back at a recheck counter for the onward flight. Leave enough connection time for that step.
Seven hours for most of the year, eight in winter. Makkah stays on Arabia Standard Time, UTC+3, all year, while Cleveland moves between Eastern Daylight Time, UTC-4, and Eastern Standard Time, UTC-5. The 2026 switch back to standard time is on November 1, and clocks go forward again on March 14, 2027. Land in Jeddah in the evening and your body will think it's around midday, so the first night's sleep may come late.
Our 7-night flight-inclusive packages run from $1,590 to $1,890 per person on quad occupancy, with airfare, the e-visa, medical insurance, both hotels and the Haramain train inside that figure. Advertised prices are based on departures from JFK, IAD, ORD, ATL and LAX. Flying out of your city may add to the airfare, and we'll confirm exactly how much before you book anything.
