Umrah from Fort Worth made simple
Downtown's T&P Station is where the train ride to DFW begins. TEXRail runs from there through North Richland Hills and Grapevine to Terminal B, and five of its stations have long-term parking, so nobody has to leave a car at the airport for two weeks. A DFW departure sits outside the five gateways our airfare is priced from, which means the team works out any extra cost and confirms it before anyone books. The Islamic Association of Tarrant County is based in the city. For weather, the hazard to plan around is ice, which North Texas sees more often than heavy snow. The TRE is a second rail option, with a shuttle bus into the airport.

The Islamic Association of Tarrant County, on Diaz Avenue in Fort Worth, says it works for understanding among Muslims in the community and for positive relationships and mutual respect between Muslims and non-Muslims. Across Tarrant County, home to about 2.1 million people, the ARDA's 2020 religion census data put the estimate at roughly 31,400 Muslim adherents in 21 congregations. Dallas County, for comparison, had 38 congregations.
Getting to Makkah from Fort Worth
Most of the planning from Fort Worth comes down to one choice. Either DFW handles the entire trip, with a single change of plane abroad, or you take a domestic flight first to JFK, IAD, ORD, ATL or LAX, the airports our package airfare is priced from, and board the long-haul flight there. Because DFW isn't on that list, starting there may add to the airfare. We check the exact difference and tell you before anything is confirmed.
Plan for 17 to 23 hours or so between DFW and Saudi Arabia, depending on the hub and how long you wait there. For the first stretch, the train is worth a look. TEXRail leaves downtown and pulls into Terminal B, and Trinity Metro lists Terminal Link and Skylink among the connections there. Terminal Link is the airport's shuttle bus between terminals. The Trinity Railway Express is another way in, with the TRE LINK shuttle covering the last part.
Coming home, TEXRail works just as well in the other direction. Trinity Metro says it keeps the same schedule seven days a week, holidays included.
TEXRail, stop by stop
Eastbound TEXRail trains start at Fort Worth T&P Station and call at Fort Worth Central, North Side, Mercantile Center, North Richland Hills/Iron Horse, North Richland Hills/Smithfield, Grapevine/Main Street and DFW Airport North before ending at DFW Airport Terminal B. Five of these stations, three in Fort Worth and two in North Richland Hills, have long-term parking, reserved through the Ace Parking app. Fort Worth Central also connects with Amtrak and Greyhound, which helps if relatives are coming in from out of town to see you off.
The TRE and its shuttle
Trinity Railway Express trains connect Fort Worth and Dallas and stop at CentrePort/DFW Airport Station on Statler Boulevard. From there, the TRE LINK shuttle bus connects the station with the airport. That makes the TRE a reasonable choice if your nearest station is on that line rather than on TEXRail, though it adds a change with luggage. Look at the train and shuttle timetables side by side before relying on them for an early flight, and leave some slack for the transfer.
Ice, more than snow
Heavy snow is fairly rare in North Texas. Forecasters at the Fort Worth National Weather Service office point out that freezing rain and sleet hit the area more often, and more severely. At DFW the average first freeze falls around November 22 and the last around March 12. For a departure between late November and mid-March, watch the forecast in the days before you fly, allow extra time on the roads if ice is expected, and be ready for a schedule change.

Umrah from Fort Worth: questions
Saudi Arabia doesn't use daylight saving, so Makkah sits at UTC+3 all year. Fort Worth runs on Central Time, which puts Makkah 9 hours ahead in winter. When US clocks go forward on the second Sunday in March, the gap narrows to 8 hours, and it widens again after the first Sunday in November. After close to a day of travel, most people arrive tired. Try to sleep on the long leg as if it were already night in Saudi Arabia, and keep the first evening quiet.
For urgent cases, the agency to use is in Dallas, at 1100 Commerce Street, and it's strictly by appointment. It handles people who can show a ticket or itinerary and are either leaving the country within 14 days or in need of a foreign visa. The TRE runs between Fort Worth and Dallas if you'd rather not drive. For a routine renewal, send it in the normal way, well before you settle on dates for the trip.
