Why perform Umrah in June?
June 2027 is the first full month after Hajj 1448, which the Umm al-Qura calendar places between 14 and 19 May. Saudi Arabia has not yet said when the next Umrah season opens. The last two both opened on 14 Dhul Hijjah, and if 1449 follows them, visas would be issued from about 20 May. Until the ministry confirms it, treat that as an expectation and nothing more. What is already fixed is the Hijri calendar. The first five days of June are the end of Dhul Hijjah. Then 1 Muharram 1449, the Islamic new year, is expected on Sunday 6 June, and Ashura on Tuesday 15 June. A trip this month crosses the turn of the year and touches two of the four sacred months. The price of all that is heat. June is the hottest month of the year in Makkah.
- Start the year 1449 in Makkah, with 1 Muharram expected on 6 June
- Fast Ashura on 15 June, a fast the Prophet ﷺ said expiates the sins of the year before
- The weeks after Hajj have been among the quietest of the Umrah year for pilgrims from abroad
- Juneteenth is observed on Friday 18 June, so there is a long weekend in the middle of the month
- No dates, hotels or price yet. Register interest and we contact you when the season is announced
Weather in June
The hardest month of the year for heat. Makkah averages 111°F by day and about 85°F at night, and Madinah is barely kinder at 109°F. Rain almost never falls. Plan the walking for the hours around Fajr and after Isha, and spend the middle of the day resting.
June 2027 Umrah: FAQs
We expect so, but it has not been confirmed. Under the current calendar the last Umrah visa is issued on 9 March 2027 and the last pilgrims leave by 7 April 2027. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has not yet published the calendar for the season after Hajj 1448. The last two calendars came out in May, shortly before Hajj, and both seasons opened on 14 Dhul Hijjah. If 1449 does the same, visas open around 20 May 2027 and June is the first full month of the new season. We will not sell June dates before that calendar is out.
The Umm al-Qura calendar puts 1 Muharram 1449 on Sunday 6 June 2027, which makes Ashura, the tenth, Tuesday 15 June. Saudi Arabia sometimes adjusts the start of Muharram after the moon is sighted, so it could move by a day. Asked about fasting on Ashura, the Prophet ﷺ said it expiates the sins of the preceding year, as Sahih Muslim records. Fasting it in Makkah is a good reason to pick this month.
For some, yes, and it is better to say so now. Makkah averages a daytime high of 111°F in June and the nights stay around 85°F, so there is no cool part of the day to recover in. If heat is a worry, December is far gentler, with Madinah averaging 79°F by day. If June is the only month that works for your family, tell us when you register interest and we will plan the pace around the people travelling.
There is no price for June 2027 yet, because there are no dates or hotels yet either. Saudi Arabia has not announced the next Umrah season. Register your interest on this page and we will send you dates, named hotels and a price as soon as they are set, before the departure is advertised.

What our pilgrims say

“Fantastic ,professional, on time and gret customer service”
“My 2nd Umrah with Qibla Gateway was incredible. Called Brother Ali on Wednesday on short notice, everything was booked by Thursday, and I traveled Friday to Monday. He got me a hotel right across Gate 79 of Masjid Al Haram and the transport team confirmed every ride an hour early. Super smooth service — highly recommended!”
“My husband and I recently came back from our first umrah trip in June using Qibla Gateway's services, and it was a great experience. Our travel agent, brother Asad Khan, was very helpful and walked us through the process each step of the way. As first timers, it can be pretty daunting to keep up with all the procedures, rules and guidelines, but brother Asad and Qibla Gateway made the process smooth and supportive. The trip package was also very reasonably priced.”
