Why perform Umrah in September?
September reads like autumn on an American calendar. In Makkah it is still summer. The average daytime high is 109°F, the same as August, and it does not drop below 100°F until November. What changes is at home. Labor Day is Monday 6 September 2027, and by then the school year has started in most of the country. That makes September a month for couples, retirees and anyone whose dates are not set by a school calendar. It also sits in the middle of the season's climb in numbers, well below the December peak. Rabi al-Thani 1449 begins on Thursday 2 September, according to the Umm al-Qura calendar.

Weather in September
Do not let the month fool you. Makkah averages 109°F by day and about 85°F at night in September, and Madinah 108°F by day. The heat starts to ease in October and is far gentler by December, when Madinah averages 79°F. Pack the same light, loose clothing you would take in July.
September 2027 Umrah: FAQs
Barely. In Makkah the average daytime high is 109°F in both months, and the nights are less than two degrees apart. Madinah eases from 111°F to 108°F. The real drop comes in October, when Madinah's average falls to 99°F, and again in November. If heat is what decides it for you, look at November or December instead.
On recent figures, yes. Saudi government data counted about 1.51 million Umrah pilgrims from abroad in September 2025, against about 2.14 million in December 2025. September sits in the middle of the yearly climb, not at the top of it.
A short delay should not touch September, which sits well inside any normal season. The last two seasons opened on 14 Dhul Hijjah and stopped issuing visas on 1 Shawwal, and if 1449 follows them it runs from about 20 May 2027 into March 2028. What a later announcement would delay is the day we can confirm dates and hotels. Register interest and you will hear as soon as we can.
