Why perform Umrah in September?

September is the month the Saudi summer finally lets go. July and August are punishing; by September the worst of the heat has broken, the families who travelled over the school holidays have gone home, and rates settle back down before the winter season pushes them up again. The Haram feels like a different place. You can walk to Fajr without arriving drained, and stand through a long Isha without counting the minutes. For a first Umrah, or for anyone who has been before and wants the quiet version of it, September is badly underrated.

  • Our lowest monthly departure price of the season
  • The heat has broken, but winter pricing has not arrived
  • Noticeably quieter Haram once the school holidays end
  • A good month for a first Umrah, because you are not fighting the heat and the crowds at the same time for somewhere to pray
  • Swissotel Makkah facing the Haram, Anwar Al Madinah Mövenpick in Madinah

Weather in September

Daytime highs ease out of the summer peak into the low 100s°F. Middays are still hot, so plan around them. Evenings are another matter, and comfortable enough for the night prayers.

September 2026 Umrah: FAQs

Yes, and it is one of the more overlooked ones. The summer heat starts to ease, crowds fall away as soon as schools go back, and the price sits well below the winter and holiday peaks. If what you want is an unhurried Umrah with room to pray where you like, September gives you that. The trade-off is the middays, which are still hot.

Much quieter than summer, Ramadan or the winter holidays. Praying close to the Kaaba becomes realistic rather than a matter of luck, and tawaf and sa'i are far less of a crush than at peak season. It is never empty, of course. No month in Makkah is. But the difference against peak season is one you notice within an hour of arriving.

Everything except your personal spending. That covers round-trip airfare from JFK, IAD, ORD, ATL, LAX, the Umrah e-visa, medical insurance, 4 nights in Makkah at Swissotel Makkah, Clock Tower and 3 nights in Madinah at Anwar Al Madinah Mövenpick, daily buffet breakfast, the Haramain high-speed train between the two cities, assisted transfers, and an Umrah guide with you throughout.

From $1,790 per person on quad occupancy, which means four of you sharing a room. Triple occupancy is $1,990 per person and double occupancy is $2,190 per person. Prices are based on departures from JFK, IAD, ORD, ATL and LAX. Other US departure cities may incur additional airfare.

What our pilgrims say

Rated 4.6/5 from 26 reviews on Trustpilot.

My family and I (we're a family of four) recently traveled for Ziyara in Madinah and Umrah in Makkah, and we chose Qibla Gateway. In Makkah, we stayed in a 5-star hotel with a Qibla view, and in Madinah, a hotel overlooking the Haram. What Qibla Gateway really gave us was peace of mind — instead of worrying about logistics, we were able to focus on why we came in the first place.
